Two strong earthquakes that shook Lorca, southeastern Spain, twice with magnitude 4.4 at 17:03 and 5.1 at 18:47 pm local time on Wednesday (05/11/2011) has forced some 30,000 residents on Thursday (12 / 5 / 2011) sleeping outdoors.

Two of the quake is the worst after a similar incident that had rocked the Spanish about 50 years ago.

Ten people were killed and 400 injured, 167 of whom should be treated intensively in the Hospital Virgin de Arrixaca.

Spanish Television, TVE, reported on the enormous scale of the damage caused the earthquake. In one picture shown in an old church bell which collapsed due to these shocks.

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has declared a state of emergency and deploy 200 troops to immediately evacuate rescue earthquake victims.
"We are in a state of emergency, but I believe the rescue will work optimally in restoring this condition," said Zapatero.

After the earthquake, the Spanish Government immediately mobilized experts to study the structure of the building and rescue the old buildings are historic. To limit the time that has not been determined, the Lorca schools were closed.
